Safe-Skeg is intended to give a safe alternative to the vibration and noise generated by standard tower steering devices. It features a drain hole to keep corrosion and freeze-up at bay. The Safe-Skeg is made of 316 marine-grade stainless steel and comes fully assembled. It's Mercury/Mariner, Nissan, Suzuki, Tohatsu, Yamaha, and Force outboard marine engines.
This feature is especially important for high-performance boats like bass boats because the skeg plays an important role in steering while on a plane. Because it is in the lowest position, it is vulnerable to damage by rocks. The skeg's location also helps to shield the prop from rock damage.
