The exhaust manifold is a system of pipes that safely transports exhaust gasses from the engine to the tailpipe at the opposite end of the vehicle. This system includes the exhaust manifold gasket. It's a gasket that seals the gap between the engine's cylinder head and the start of the exhaust manifold, preventing gasses from accidentally leaking back into the engine. In the exhaust system, this little seal has a tremendous effect. Like a vacuum tube or vacuum cleaner, a sealed system may remove waste rapidly and efficiently. Without the gasket, the exhaust system works more like a leaf blower, blasting at a broad area and hoping that most of the debris blows away.
