A pivot pin structure consists of two plates threadedly attached to the opposite ends of the pin and bears against the ends of the sleeves to move the sleeves axially inwardly concerning the tapered ends. Split sleeves that have internal frustoconical-shaped surfaces that engage the conoid ends.
Pins with a unique end configuration, such as a spherical end, are referred to as pivot pins because they can function as detent pins or cam profiles. Detent pins are pins with a mechanical mechanism that, until it is released, restrict mobility. A pin with a spring-loaded ball driven into a hole along its length is a straightforward illustration.
