The starter relay is a remote switch that connects the driving seat ignition key to the starter system. It consists of housing, coil windings, a magnetic core, and an armature or plunge. Some indications of a failing starter relay include if the motor has stopped working, the starter makes clicking sounds and occasional failures in starting the vehicle and doesn't turn off.
