The air intake is precisely controlled by an electronically controlled single throttle, and a lengthy intake manifold efficiently directs this air to the combustion chambers for increased torque and power. Four-stroke engines run on gasoline with no oil added, and the piston moves up and down twice during each combustion cycle, hence the name "4-stroke." However, they give consistent power delivery, improved fuel efficiency, and cleaner emissions. Because 4-stroke engines have superior fuel economy and emit less smoke, they have become the standard.
