The red gate is flipped up by hand to keep the rope out of the alloy cleat and prevent unintentional entry of the rope into the cleat.The CL240 is a modified CL220. Also available in Nylon - CL239.For smaller size ropes, look at the Nylon CL237 or Aluminum CL238.
