The oval opening pipe can accommodate a large thimble and line up to 1 inch in diameter in addition to the shackle and chain. Chains can remain in the slot every time the cover is closed. It was also constructed of chrome-plated forged brass. This replacement cup or chain is handy if you need a boat gas cap or a locking insert for safety.
