Any lubricant used must be water-soluble and include no petroleum additives. The petroleum additives will cause the rubber to degrade and fail. To make installation easier, soak new hubs for a few minutes in hot water (about 180 degrees Fahrenheit). It will cause no damage to the hub and allow it to compress with less force.
